My Wellness Care is a private psychological practice set up in 2018 with the aim to provide quality psychological services that are accessible. These include testing/assessment, behavioural intervention, and therapy for children, adolescents, and young adults. We work with you to find ways of coping with individual challenges so that young people can make clear progress towards engaging meaningfully with life.

About My Wellness Care

Life is full of challenges, we can face new ones any day and never really know what is around the corner. Normally, we are all able to adapt to those challenges, with help from our support systems and other resources, but sometimes, it can get too much. In those times, it can feel overwhelming, faced with difficulties that are more than we can handle, and not knowing what to do next.

If that is you, then there are options. The best practices for treatment often include the important components of psychological therapy and family intervention, and that is where we can help.

My Wellness Care provides a safe and caring environment that offers diagnostic psychological evaluation as well as therapeutic and behavioural intervention to children, adolescents and families.

Our goals are to alleviate stress and build resilience, so that our patients can deal with life’s problems more effectively. We are committed to using psychological science and evidence-based treatment in our practice to assist those in need in the best way possible.

Neurodevelopmental Disabilities

Children with neurodevelopmental disabilities, such as autism, ADHD, or specific learning disabilities, often experience difficulties in attaining developmental milestones when young. They may experience learning difficulties and may struggle with social functioning, adaptive behaviours, and interpersonal relationships.

Depression, Anxiety, and other Mood Symptoms

Anxiety appears most commonly during childhood, with depressive symptoms more common among adolescents, especially girls. There are many life experiences these symptoms can be associated with, including grief, trauma, or adjustment issues. To accurately identify these mood symptoms requires specialized expertise. Early identification and treatment are important as they can prevent the deterioration and recurrence of symptoms.

Challenging Behaviors

There are many reasons why children may exhibit disruptive behaviours, from learning difficulties or poor communication and social skills to ineffective environmental support or mood symptoms. To identify appropriate treatment, we must understand these contributing factors that are causing the challenging behaviour in a calm, effective way.

When choosing a psychologist to work with, parents have a wide choice of excellent professionals to choose from. Of course, it is important any psychologist has the professional and educational qualifications and experience required to provide effective treatment, but choice is more than those quantifiable things. The best treatment for your child comes from having a psychologist who is a good fit for you and your family, and that is not something you can get from a description.

That is why we offer a one-time free 20-minute Phone Consultation with our psychologist to see if it is right for everyone. From there, we may decide whether to begin the intake process and meet in-person to address your child’s unique needs.
